| Very few stakeholders/actors
operate in this sub-sector. These include Tanzania Cultural
Tourism Organizers, which promote cultural tours in
the rural areas; Writers Association; Publishers Association,
Book Illustrators Association, Children's Book Project
of Tanzania, textile producers and designers and training
institutions involved in cultural promotion.
This sub-sector was centralised for
a long time after independence. This resulted in a slow
rate of entrepreneurship by people to establish cultural
enterprises. Neighbouring countries took advantage of
this slow growth and established markets for their products.
However, with the current socio-economic reforms, Tanzanians
are becoming business oriented and this situation has
been significantly changing for the better.
