Fine Arts & Crafts
Profile

This sub-sector is dominated by individual actors who for a long time did not consider themselves as serious stakeholders, but as artists, promoters and traders of art. Various groups of artists are to be found in the constituency:

  1. Copycats who produce airport arts and crafts mainly for tourists visiting Tanzania.
  2. Creative artists engaged in original designs, productions and exhibition.
  3. Individuals solely working in the rural areas.

Artists in the Fine Arts and Crafts are more market oriented than those in other constituencies. Actors in the sub-sector include Painters, Sculptors, Institutions, Galleries, Weavers, Potters and others.

The focal point for Fine Arts & Crafts is the Mwalim Nyerere Cultural Centre, formerly known as Nyumba ya Sanaa.
