The Mfuko supports the Government's objective of promoting the cultural sector as a means of raising employment and income levels, preserving the cultural heritage of the peoples of Tanzania, increasing local resources utilization, improving the skill levels of the cultural actors with the aim of embracing production of competitive cultural products and services.

The overall objective of the Programme is thus to contribute towards the development of a strong, competitive and dynamic cultural sector with the capacity to promote national identity and to contribute towards overall national development and poverty alleviation.

1. To enhance quality and quantity of cultural production, artistic professionalism, creativity, preservation as well as protection of cultural heritage.

2. To promote programme activities which are aimed at increasing appreciation and awareness of national cultural wealth and national identity so as to improve knowledge and information about the Tanzanian culture.

3. To improve institutional capacities for competence, development, co-ordination and networking.

4. To improve resources mobilization for and investments in the cultural sector.
