1. District Cultural Officers' Seminars
The Tanzania Culture Trust Fund is conducting these seminars at four different venues around the country on the Implementation of the National Cultural Policy. The first seminar takes place at the VETA Hall in Dodoma from November 1 to 4, 2004. Participants are from all districts of Dodoma, Singida, Pwani, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar na Pemba regions. A schedule for all the seminars is as follows:
  • 1st Seminar - Dodoma: November 1-4, 2004.
  • 2nd Seminar - Arusha: May 2-5, 2005. Participants from Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions.
  • 3rd Seminar - Mwanza: May 17-20, 2005. Participants from Mwanza, Kagera, Mara, Shinyanga, Tabora and Kigoma regions.
  • 4th Seminar - Iringa: Agosti 23-26, 2005. Participants from Iringa, Rukwa, Mbeya, Lindi na Mtwara regions.

These seminars are funded by The Foundation for Civil Society and are aimed at building a sustainable team work environment and cooperation between the Tanzania Culture Trust Fund, Local Governments, Civil Society and the Public at district and grassroots levels in the implementation of goals set by the Cultural Policy.

Participants will be trained on the importance of civic participation in the drafting and implementation of various policies for national development as well as the relationship between the Cultural Policy and other policies in the country. These include the policy guiding the fight against HIV/AIDS and the role of donors and the private sector in the implementation of these sectors for our socio-economic development.

2. The National Culture Sector General Meeting 2004
This meeting will take place at the Oasis Hotel in Morogoro from November 22 to 26, 2004. This year's theme is Lets Respect, Develop and Promote Our Own Culture. The meeting is aimed at revisiting the implementation of objectives set during the 2003 meeting, presentation of different papers and participating in the pilot National Culture Concert. Participants in the General Meeting include:

  • The Zanzibar Revolutionary Government.
  • Ministries of: Education and Culture; Labour, Youth Development and Sport; Regional Administration and Local Governments; and Natural Resources and Tourism.
  • The Prime Minister's Office (Information).
  • Various Training, Civil, Government and No-government institutions and organisations.
  • All District Cultural Officers.
  • The Private Sector and other invitees.

3. The Mfuko Week 2004
The Mfuko Week for year 2004 is scheduled to take place at the National Museum Grounds in Dar es Salaam from December 5 to 10, 2004. This programme has been changed from the usual November 1 to 6 schedule in order to give way to the Holy Month of Ramadan. Main activities in 2004's Mfuko Week are:

  • Exhibition of various products and services from projects and enterprises working within the culture sector. This exhibition will incorporate participants whose projects have been supported by Tanzania Culture Trust Fund and those who have not. Exhibitors are expected to be invited from all over the country.
  • Performances and entertainment during all the period of the Mfuko Week involving various artists. Also Mfuko works with the Finnish Embassy in Tanzania to have a joint concert that shall involve a Finnish/Tanzanian group and other local groups.
  • Zeze Cultural Award.

4. Zeze Cultural Award 2004
The Zeze Cultural Award for year 2004 shall be conferred to recipients on the last night of Mfuko Week, that is December 10, 2004. Details shall be made available in the media when ready. For more information and photos regarding the previous Zeze Awards, go to 'Awards' page in this site.
